Xtrade review

How to fund and withdraw with Xtrade, and what it costs to trade.

Xtrade sits below the standard we would recommend without reservation. Regulated by Belize FSC (4705379); South Africa FSCA (FSP 44681); additional offshore entity, offering Xtrade WebTrader, Xtrade Mobile. What follows is drawn from the broker's own published material and covers the things that decide the account you end up with: who oversees them, what trading actually costs, and where the compromises sit.

Our rating

69/100

One rating, identical across our sites - only the way it is shown changes. It averages six assessments: regulation, trading costs, platforms, markets, support and education.

What it costs to trade

Inactivity fee

Withdrawal fee
Account/payment-method dependent

Conversion spread/rate may apply

Spreads from 1.0 pip suggest an all-in account, where the broker's fee is built into the price rather than charged separately. There is usually no commission on top, which makes the cost easier to predict.

Quoted spreads are best-case figures on the most liquid pair, in normal conditions. What you actually pay widens around news and at the session open.

Xtrade lists a minimum deposit of $100. Treat it as the cost of opening an account, not the cost of trading one - position sizing on a small balance is what tends to cause damage.

Leverage up to Up to approximately 1:400 internationally, instrument/entity dependent is available on this entity. High leverage does not increase your expected return - it increases position size for the same deposit, and shortens the move needed to close you out.

Xtrade covers forex, shares, indices, commodities, etfs, bonds, cryptocurrencies. A wider range matters less than depth in the instruments you actually trade.

Funding options: visa, mastercard, visa electron, maestro, american express, discover, diners, bank transfer, cryptocurrency transfer. Check withdrawal routes as well as deposit ones - they are often not the same, and the difference only becomes apparent when you try to take money out.

Xtrade's licence is offshore (FSC). Offshore entities typically offer higher leverage and lighter reporting, and compensation schemes do not apply - the trade-off is protection, not price.

The FSCA licenses derivative providers in South Africa without a fixed retail leverage cap, so headline leverage is often higher than an FCA or ASIC entity may offer.

An FSC licence (Mauritius or Belize, depending on the entity) is an offshore authorisation with lighter reporting duties than a tier-one regulator.
